MetaDJ Terms of Service

1. About the Service and agreement

MetaDJ helps artists have their music discovered by a wider audience. Users upload tracks, organize playlists and discover music through personal listening. Sharing means listening through the Service, not authorized downloading or off-platform redistribution. MetaDJ.live and MetaDJ.org are operated by John Papa. Contact: JohnAnthonyMarie@gmail.com, H074 2C3, Inyokern, CA 93527, United States. Effective date: October 10, 2026.

Terms version: metadj-terms-2026-10-10-r1. By selecting the agreement control when registering, you agree to these Terms. Do not register if you do not agree.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use MetaDJ. Provide an accurate email address and keep account access secure. We use email for account verification and password resets. Do not share your password. Report suspected unauthorized access to JohnAnthonyMarie@gmail.com. Do not impersonate another person or artist.

3. Your uploads and music rights

You retain whatever ownership rights you have in your content. We do not acquire copyright ownership. You may upload original music, licensed music or tracks from purchased commercial collections only when you hold the rights needed for the uses authorized here. Buying a recording, subscribing to a service, crediting the artist or possessing a file does not itself grant permission to upload or publicly stream it. By uploading you represent that you can authorize storage, reproduction, processing, transmission, public performance and display through MetaDJ, including rights in both sound recording and underlying musical work, artwork, samples and other material and relevant performer/privacy/publicity permissions. An artist may not control all these rights. These rules also apply to covers, remixes, mashups and DJ mixes. Keep permission records.

4. Limited operational license

You grant us a nonexclusive, worldwide license, without an additional payment owed to you under this license, to store, reproduce as needed, process, transmit and publicly perform your content through the Service and display associated artwork/text/metadata. It extends to providers acting for us only as needed to operate the discovery and listening features you use or authorize. You must have authority to grant it. It does not eliminate third-party rights or independent license obligations. This permission does not authorize selling recordings or offering retained downloads. It ends when content is removed, except for necessary processing and lawful retention, including backup copies, as described in the Privacy Policy. Retained copies remain subject to these limits.

5. Personal listening only

Listeners may listen through Service features for personal, noncommercial use, subject to available rights and these Terms. No ownership passes to listeners. Do not download, rip, capture/record, resell, sublicense, reupload, redistribute or rebroadcast music or use it in another service or commercial/public performances. These Terms grant no rights for those uses. Do not bypass access controls. Rights that the law does not permit us to restrict remain unaffected. Ordinary playback buffering is not an offline-download entitlement. Sharing an authorized listening link does not grant copying rights. Listening-only rules are not a guarantee that public audio cannot be saved.

6. Public content and features

Profiles, artist and playlist pages, track information/artwork, Selected Tracks/Favorite Playlists and playable audio may be publicly accessible without an account. Do not assume an upload is private. Public files may be indexed or linked. Metadata editing may change the uploaded MP3; keep your original copy. Rankings/play counts do not guarantee audience, royalties or sales.

7. Copyright and moderation

We respect rightsholders and are committed to DMCA notice-and-takedown. We will act expeditiously on valid notices and when actual knowledge or apparent infringement requires action. Our Copyright / DMCA Policy explains notices, counter-notices, notification and restoration. We will terminate repeat-infringer accounts in appropriate circumstances and may act on egregious violations sooner. We may quarantine content to restrict access while preserving data for review/restoration, or separately remove content/accounts after appropriate review. We do not promise all uploads are pre-cleared. Do not upload malware, unlawfully expose personal information, harass, impersonate, manipulate counts with bots, bulk-copy content, compromise accounts or interfere with the Service. We provide notices required by law.

8. Service changes, closure and your copies

MetaDJ is currently free, with no subscriptions or payments. Any future paid offering will require separate clear pricing and terms before you are charged. Features, storage limits and supported formats may change. We may discontinue features or the Service, subject to applicable law. You may remove your tracks or playlists through available controls and request account closure at JohnAnthonyMarie@gmail.com. John Papa handles closure and data requests manually and aims to respond within 30 days, subject to applicable legal deadlines. Keep your own copies. We do not provide a guaranteed backup or promise permanent availability. Content removal and retention are described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature need to survive account closure, including accrued responsibilities and lawful liability limits, continue to apply.

9. Privacy and Service ownership

The Privacy Policy explains information practices; it is not a license for unrestricted data use. Service code, design and branding remain the property of their respective rightsholders. Use does not transfer ownership, subject to applicable law.

10. Warranty disclaimer

To the extent allowed by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or noninfringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, complete security or preservation of files. Nonwaivable warranties and consumer protections remain unaffected.

11. Liability limits and claims

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude liability to agreeing users for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, including lost profits, opportunities or data. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable restrictions on fraud, willful injury or violations of law. These terms do not bind nonconsenting copyright owners or guarantee safe harbor. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify John Papa against third-party claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your uploads, breach of rights promises or other Terms violations, excluding our own conduct where law does not allow shifting it to you. We will notify you, permit reasonable defense participation and require reasonable cooperation. No settlement may impose fault or nonmonetary duties on the other party without consent.

12. Law and changes

California law governs, subject to applicable mandatory law and consumer rights. No arbitration or class-action waiver is included. We will post updated Terms and notify account holders by email plus a site notice for material changes, before a change takes effect where required by law, obtaining new agreement where required. Changes will not apply retroactively where prohibited. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder applies where allowed. Nonenforcement is not waiver. Contact JohnAnthonyMarie@gmail.com.
